This role focuses on maintaining accurate medical and administrative records, supporting patient information requests, and helping protect the integrity of electronic health record documentation.
Duties
- Scan, index, and file non-electronic medical and administrative information/forms
- Maintain daily logs of documents scanned, filed, and indexed
- Respond to customer requests for information in a positive and efficient manner
- Perform qualitative reviews of work performed by self and others on scanned documents

Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- May be subject to a probationary period
- Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
- Must successfully pass E-Verify and a federal background investigation
- Must complete required background investigation forms within 5 calendar days of issuance
- Financial suitability review required
- May require work on holidays, weekends, and a 24/7 schedule
- Must comply with IHS immunization policy for healthcare settings
- REAL ID-compliant identification required prior to appointment
Minimum qualifications
GS-5
- 4 years of education above high school related to the position, or
- 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-4 performing health information management support functions such as reviewing records for completeness, scanning/indexing/filing medical documentation, quality control checks, release of information processing, maintaining tracking logs, and communicating with providers/staff
GS-6
- 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-5 performing work such as reviewing, scanning, indexing, and maintaining patient medical records in an EHR; processing record requests; conducting quality assurance audits; and performing quantitative and qualitative analysis of medical records
