Health Information Specialist I

Datavant is a healthcare data collaboration platform focused on making health data secure, accessible, and actionable across the healthcare ecosystem. This role supports the processing of medical record requests and patient health information in a high-volume, on-site production environment.

The position is based in New Smyrna Beach, FL and operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM EST. The work involves handling medical record requests from patients, insurance companies, attorneys, and other authorized requestors, while maintaining confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with HIPAA and facility policies.

Key responsibilities include managing patient health records, preparing charts, assembling and transmitting records, creating digital images for the electronic medical record, answering inbound and outbound calls, assisting walk-ins, and supporting administrative tasks such as fax handling, mail opening, data entry, and pick-ups as needed.

Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to commute between locations as needed
  • Ability to work overtime during peak seasons when required
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other general office equipment
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Strong attention to detail and quality with medical records and compliant information
  • Strong data entry skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to respond in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in a healthcare environment
  • Previous production- or metric-based work experience
  • In-person customer service experience
  • Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers
  • Interest in process improvement and sharing feedback
