- Scan, index, and file non-electronic medical and administrative information and forms.
- Maintain daily logs of documents scanned, filed, and indexed.
- Respond to customer requests for information in a positive and efficient manner.
- Perform qualitative reviews of work performed by self and other staff on scanned documents.
- Support health information management functions within an electronic health record environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- May be subject to a probationary period.
- Must successfully complete a federal background investigation.
- Must meet financial suitability requirements.
- May be required to work 24/7 schedules, holidays, and weekends.
- Must comply with IHS immunization policy for applicable facility-based work.
- Prior to appointment, two valid forms of identification are required; one must be REAL ID-compliant if it is a state-issued ID or driver's license.
- GS-5 qualification options:
- 4 years of education above high school related to the position, or
- 1 year of specialized experience at the GS-4 level involving medical records review, scanning, indexing, filing, quality control, release of information, and record tracking.
- GS-6 qualification options:
- 1 year of specialized experience at the GS-5 level involving review, scanning, indexing, maintenance, and auditing of patient records, release of information, and analysis of records for completeness.
- Education may substitute for experience at GS-5 and below, if applicable.
