The Release of Information Specialist I initiates the medical record release process by entering data into Verisma software. The role focuses on processing documentation accurately and efficiently while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and applicable state regulations.
This position may be based at a Verisma facility, at a client site, or in some instances may be performed remotely. The specialist reports to the Manager of Operations, Release of Information and supports the department through clerical, customer service, and records-processing tasks.
Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
- RHIT certification preferred
- 2+ years of medical record experience
- 2+ years of clerical or office work experience
- Experience using desktop computers, scanners, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Healthcare setting experience preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA and state regulations related to Protected Health Information preferred
- Ability to work independently
- Strong attention to detail
