- Maintain private patient information in the healthcare facility database.
- Ensure medical records are complete and accurate.
- Enter demographic, diagnostic, and treatment data into computer systems.
- Maintain medical facility records and storage/retrieval systems.
- Prepare medical records for insurance and legal requests.
- Contact physicians regarding incomplete charts.
- Assist nursing staff and physicians with death certificates.
- Respond to records requests from courts, hospitals, physicians, and insurance organizations.
- Scan medical records within required timeframes.
- Perform admission, weekly, monthly, and discharge chart audits.
- Ensure resident records remain complete and compliant.
- Attend in-service education programs and follow facility safety procedures.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience handling medical records in a licensed medical facility
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Strong data entry skills (40-50 WPM)
- Proficiency with information management programs, Microsoft Office, and Outlook
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Computer literate and able to work with patient record systems
- Ability to comply with resident rights and facility policies and procedures
