Supports the Medical Records Department by preparing, scanning, indexing, and maintaining patient medical records within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. This role organizes paper records for digitization, processes Release of Information (ROI) requests, and helps maintain the confidentiality and integrity of protected health information.
The position also provides administrative support to School of Medicine clinics, assists with electronic health record processes, responds to inquiries from patients, providers, clinic staff, and external organizations, and supports departmental projects and health information system activities. The role requires strong organization, attention to detail, professionalism, and a commitment to accurate, compliant medical records management.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months to one year of directly related experience in a general office or healthcare environment
Preferred
- Six months to one year of experience in a healthcare environment supporting clinical applications
- Experience working with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Experience with medical records management, document imaging, and record scanning
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and Release of Information (ROI) procedures
