The ROI Specialist provides support at a specified client site handling Release of Information (ROI) requests for patient medical records.
Responsibilities include:
- Determine records to be released by reviewing requestor information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and obtaining pertinent patient data from electronic, off-site, or physical records.
- Answer phone calls concerning ROI issues.
- Respond to walk-in customers requesting medical records and log information into the ROI On-Line database when needed.
- Process priority requests from physician offices and fax information to the physician office when needed.
- Log medical record requests into the ROI On-Line database.
- Scan medical records into the ROI On-Line database.
- Comply with site facility policies and regulations.
- Handle and record cash payments for requests at specified sites.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Proficiency using computer applications.
- One or more years of experience entering data into computer systems.
- Experience using the internet.
- Ability to work independently and meet production goals.
- Strong verbal communication skills and success responding to customer inquiries.
- Ability to work in an environment requiring attention to detail.
- Proven dependability.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in Release of Information in a physician's office or HIM department is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations is preferred.
