Datavant is a healthcare data collaboration platform focused on making health data secure, accessible, and actionable. The company supports organizations across the healthcare ecosystem, including providers, health plans, researchers, and life sciences companies.
This role is based on-site in Houston, TX and involves working in a high-volume production environment. You will process medical record requests, communicate with patients, insurance companies, and attorneys, and document information across multiple systems using dual monitors.
The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, and includes full benefits.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process requests for patient health information in accordance with company and facility policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information.
- Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software.
- Follow company and customer facility code of conduct and policies.
- Inform management of work issues, site difficulties, or fluctuating volumes.
- Assist with additional duties as needed.
- Apply medical privacy regulations to prevent unauthorized disclosure.
- Manage patient health records and safeguard records in compliance with HIPAA.
- Prepare new patient charts using paper sources and/or electronic health records.
- Ensure medical records are assembled in standard order and are accurate and complete.
- Create digital images of paperwork for storage in the electronic medical record.
- Respond to patient record requests from internal and external sources.
- Answer inbound and outbound calls.
- Assist with patient walk-ins when needed.
- Support administrative tasks such as fax handling, opening mail, and data entry.
- Meet site productivity expectations.
- May schedule pick-ups.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to commute between locations as needed.
- Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons when required.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Detail-oriented with strong focus on accurate and compliant medical records information.
- Strong data entry skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to respond in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a healthcare environment.
- Previous production- or metric-based work experience.
- In-person customer service experience.
- Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers.
- Interest in process improvement and sharing feedback with internal stakeholders.
