This entry-level role is responsible for processing release of information (ROI) requests, specifically medical records requests, in a timely and efficient manner while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance.
Position highlights
- Onsite position in St. Petersburg, FL
- Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Requirements & Qualifications
What you will do
- Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
- Maintain working knowledge of company and facility software
- Follow company and customer facility codes of conduct and policies
- Communicate work issues, site difficulties, and volume changes to management
- Assist with additional duties as needed
- Apply medical privacy regulations to prevent unauthorized disclosure
- Manage patient health records and safeguard records in compliance with HIPAA
- Prepare new patient charts and gather documents from paper and electronic sources
- Assemble medical records in standard order and ensure completeness and accuracy
- Create digital images of paperwork for storage in the electronic medical record
- Respond to patient record requests from internal and external sources
- Answer inbound and outbound calls
- Assist with patient walk-ins, fax handling, mail opening, data entry, and other administrative duties
- Meet productivity expectations for the site
- May schedule pick-ups
What you will bring
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons
- Basic computer proficiency
- Comfort using phones, fax machines, printers, and general office equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Detail-oriented with accurate and compliant handling of medical records
- Strong data entry skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in changing priorities
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to respond in a fast-paced environment
Preferred experience
- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Previous production- or metric-based work experience
- In-person customer service experience
- Ability to build relationships with on-site clients and customers
- Interest in process improvement and sharing feedback
