Senior Health Information Management Specialist

Required qualifications

• Experience in Health Information Management, medical records, health information, or related healthcare operations
• Experience with medical record documentation and electronic health record processes
• Experience preparing, scanning, reviewing, validating, uploading, and indexing medical records
• Experience reviewing patient charts for missing or incomplete documentation
• Knowledge of documentation deficiency management and provider follow-up processes
• Understanding of HIPAA, patient privacy, confidentiality, and information security requirements
• Proficiency with electronic medical records, document management systems, and general computer applications
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and keyboarding
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently and meet productivity expectations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Customer-focused approach with the ability to build professional relationships
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven hospital environment
• Ability to work every weekend as part of the regular schedule

Preferred qualifications

• Hospital HIM department experience
• Experience with VitalChart ChartFlow, EvriChart, or similar medical record/document management systems
• Experience with birth certificates, death certificates, vital statistics, and paternity acknowledgments
• Experience with medical record data integrity, duplicate record correction, chart reconciliation, and continuity-of-care requests
