We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our eye care team. The ideal candidate will support optometrists by preparing patients for examinations, operating diagnostic equipment, and helping deliver excellent patient service in a clinical setting.
This role includes both clinical and administrative support in a pleasant work environment with no nights or weekends.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience and qualifications
- Prior experience in a medical office setting, preferably in ophthalmology or optometry
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems; Revolution EHR experience is a plus
- Knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic procedures, including tonometry, eye refraction, and clinical imaging equipment
- Understanding of HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality standards
- Experience with medical terminology related to eye care and ocular anatomy
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide direct patient care in a fast-paced environment
- Retail optical experience or sales background is advantageous
Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary patient assessments, including medical history intake and EHR updates
- Operate ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment and tonometers
- Assist with ophthalmic procedures while maintaining aseptic technique and confidentiality
- Support optometrists during refraction tests, visual acuity assessments, and other diagnostic procedures
- Manage patient flow, scheduling, insurance verification, and medical records
- Explain procedures clearly and provide excellent patient service
- Assist with inventory management and calibration/maintenance of diagnostic tools
- Support medical billing, coding, and retail optical sales when needed
