Qualifications
- Associate degree in Healthcare, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience
- Two years of medical coding experience preferred
- Experience with medical billing and reimbursement preferred
- Experience in a customer-facing healthcare setting preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency using the Henry Ford Health EHR system
- Strong attention to detail with excellent work quality and productivity
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel with strong math and calculation skills
- Ability to complete forms and use computer information systems effectively
- Familiarity with a clinical environment preferred
- Ability to interpret and work with detailed information accurately
- Adaptable to changing policies and procedures
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to explain patients' general financial responsibilities and route them to the Corporate Business Office Customer Service Center when appropriate
- Successful completion of annual competency requirements
Certifications
- Current coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC required
- CCS or CPC credential required
