Summit Medical Group is seeking a Risk Adjustment Coding Support Specialist to perform comprehensive documentation reviews of outpatient progress notes and assign appropriate ICD-10 diagnosis codes to support accurate disease burden reporting.
This is a full-time onsite opportunity in the Knoxville, Tennessee area.
The role focuses on reviewing clinical documentation, ensuring coding accuracy and specificity, identifying documentation trends, supporting provider education, and helping maintain compliance with risk adjustment and CMS reporting requirements.
Associates degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
Completion of college or accreditation-level coursework in:
- ICD-9-CM
- ICD-10-CM
- CPT coding
- Anatomy and physiology
- Medical terminology
Experience with:
- ICD-10 diagnosis coding in chart or progress note review
- CMS Medicare Advantage Risk Adjustment Data Validation (RADV) and HCC coding
- Risk adjustment and clinical documentation review
- Health plan risk adjustment processes and systems
- Proficient computer skills
Current credential required from one of the following:
- RHIA
- RHIT
- CCS
- CCS-P
- CPC
- CPC-H
- CRC
If not CRC certified, certification must be obtained within the first year of employment.
AHIMA/AAPC certification must be maintained through continuing education requirements.
