The Payer Compliance Specialist I within the revenue cycle team is responsible for reviewing allowed amounts received on claims to determine whether they align with contract terms. The role investigates electronic and manual posting variances, initiates appeals for re-processing, requests corrections as needed, and works to resolve payer issues that affect receivables.
This position partners with internal revenue cycle teams, leadership, finance, contract management, and insurance payers to identify trends, resolve discrepancies, and support accurate reimbursement. The role requires strong communication, analytical thinking, independent problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a potentially high-stress environment.

- High school diploma or equivalent required
- At least 2 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle
- Functional knowledge of Excel and Word
- Basic knowledge of managed care programs and healthcare billing requirements
- Ability to analyze and resolve underpayments related to specific payers and coding issues
- Strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills
- Experience gathering and reporting information
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Familiarity with basic medical terminology and concepts preferred
- Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, and ASA coding preferred
