We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced commission-based Dental and Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The role focuses on accurate coding, billing, collections, and supporting revenue cycle operations.
Duties
- Assign appropriate DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding to medical procedures and diagnoses
- Review and update medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Process medical billing submissions using EMR/EHR systems
- Manage medical collections by following up on unpaid claims and resolving billing discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and coding standards
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation for accurate coding
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist in auditing medical records for accuracy and completeness
- Support the transition to new coding standards or EHR systems as needed
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience and qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or a related healthcare administrative role
- Knowledge of DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology and medical records management
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems is highly preferred
- Strong understanding of medical office workflows and billing processes
- Prior experience in medical collections is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team
