The Physical Therapy Director is responsible for the efficient and profitable management of rehabilitation services within assigned clinic(s), including physical therapy, occupational therapy/hand therapy, industrial services, and cash-based services.
This role ensures the highest standard of rehabilitation services and customer service, while maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations. The director oversees day-to-day operations, supports business goals and objectives, and collaborates with practice leadership to drive clinic performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing clinic operations and performance metrics
- Supervising therapy staff and support personnel
- Supporting direct patient care as needed
- Monitoring financial and statistical information
- Administering company policies and procedures
- Recruiting, hiring, training, and evaluating staff
- Ensuring compliance, documentation quality, and licensure requirements
- Maintaining clinic safety, inventory, and equipment standards
- Building relationships with referring providers and improving patient satisfaction
- Participating in therapy leadership meetings, reports, and initiatives
Candidates should have experience in rehabilitation or therapy clinic operations, with the ability to balance patient care and administrative leadership responsibilities.
Expected qualifications and capabilities include:
- Strong knowledge of physical therapy and rehabilitation services
- Experience supervising clinical and front desk staff
- Familiarity with patient scheduling, clinical coding, and documentation systems such as TheraOffice
- Understanding of state and federal healthcare regulations
- Ability to manage staffing, productivity, reporting, and clinic metrics
- Skill in hiring, coaching, performance management, and disciplinary actions
- Valid state licensure in states where treatment is provided
- Valid CPR certification
- Ability to work some evenings and Saturdays as needed
