We’re looking for a skilled and caring Dental Hygienist to join the team in a PRN/casual/fill-in/temporary position. In this role, you’ll provide preventive dental care for patients, including professional cleanings, routine assessments, and patient education on home care. You’ll work closely with dentists and assistants to deliver comprehensive care in a supportive environment where hygiene skills, communication, and attention to safety are valued.
Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling, polishing, and fluoride treatments to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status.
- Capture high-quality dental x-rays to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.
- Maintain accurate electronic health records using OpenDental, documenting procedures, findings, and patient interactions.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic techniques and sterilization of dental equipment, while complying with healthcare regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding for accurate documentation.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of infection prevention management, healthcare infection control practices, and HIPAA compliance.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to educate and support patients of all ages.
- Familiarity with dental x-ray procedures and electronic dental software systems.
- Willingness to learn OpenDental if needed.
