Orthopedic X-Ray Technician

Bluewater Orthopedics

Responsible for explaining X-ray procedures to patients, preparing patients for imaging, and positioning them for optimal diagnostic outcomes. This role also supports DME functions and orthopedic medical assistant duties.

  • Greet patients in a professional and friendly manner
  • Room patients and verify medical history
  • Take patient vitals
  • Provide information and assistance to patients
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and keep rooms neat, clean, and well stocked
  • Assist physicians and medical staff with procedures and treatments
  • Complete and document daily patient interactions
  • Produce quality radiographs to assist in diagnosis
  • Verify the correct body part is examined
  • Align patient and equipment to obtain the best possible position
  • Ensure the correct views are included in each exam
  • Educate patients regarding the procedure
  • Provide patients with copies of images upon request
  • Confirm appropriate codes are used for billing
  • Ensure images are in the PACS system
  • Maintain quality control checks to ensure X-ray equipment meets required standards
  • Clean, maintain, and make minor adjustments to radiographic equipment and identify needed repairs
  • Protect patients and personnel from radiation hazards
  • Maintain radiographic supplies
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or graduation from a Radiology Technician program
  • Two years of experience, preferably in an orthopedic setting
  • Valid ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) license
  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 codes
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients
  • Friendly personality and ability to work well as part of a team
  • Medical imaging experience preferred
  • Athena experience preferred
  • Experience completing patient intakes preferred
  • Medical administrative support experience required
  • ARRT (R) certification required
  • BLS certification preferred
  • Willingness to travel 25% required
  • Day shift preferred
