Risk Adjustment Coding Specialist

Greater Good Health is a fast-growing organization focused on delivering care to older adults in access-starved communities. The company operates senior-focused primary care clinics and integrated clinical solutions for health plans and provider groups, with an emphasis on value-based care, improved outcomes, and a better patient experience.

This role owns retrospective CDI chart review and supports coding compliance, documentation accuracy, and risk adjustment optimization across a Medicare-focused primary care model. You will work closely with Revenue Cycle, Clinical Operations, and Clinical Performance teams to resolve documentation and coding queries, close retrospective review backlogs, identify risk capture opportunities, and reduce audit risk.

The position also helps design and formalize coding audit processes, documentation standards, and education materials. You will review charts, analyze coding trends, support provider education, and monitor regulatory changes affecting coding and risk adjustment workflows.

Requirements & Qualifications

Credentials

  • Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC or equivalent) required
  • CDI credential preferred, such as CDIP or CCDS

Experience

  • Medicare risk adjustment experience required
  • Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) experience, including query construction, provider education, and documentation gap remediation
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM coding guidelines, HCC models, and Medicare documentation requirements
  • Experience in outpatient clinic and/or primary care settings
  • Value-based care experience
  • Experience with coding audits or compliance reviews preferred

Technical skills

  • Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, conditional formatting, and data validation
  • Experience building or maintaining audit worklists and trackers in Excel

Communication

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate coding guidance for clinical, operational, and finance stakeholders
  • Comfort training and coaching providers on documentation and coding best practices
