Responsible for the validity and accuracy of medical records for the Community Health Center (CHC).
Works closely with the clinical team to ensure incoming medical records are filed appropriately and are easily accessible.
Handles administrative and clerical medical records functions, including record keeping, document processing, and release of protected health information.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- College degree preferred, but not required
Experience
- 1 year of experience in a health care facility and/or medical records department preferred
- Ability to multitask efficiently preferred
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to identify and file medical records correctly
- Medium to advanced computer skills
- Ability to accurately compile reports and rosters
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of medical records policies and procedures
- Ability to follow ethical and legal standards for medical records practice
- Professional manner in dealing with confidential records and internal/external customers
Other Requirements
- If using a car, must provide proof of adequate insurance coverage totaling at least $300,000
- Valid Colorado driver’s license required if car is used
- TB test upon hire
