Under minimal supervision, this role assists with organizing and processing all incoming and outgoing patient information. The position ensures uploaded documents are completed in EMR charts and is responsible for filing, locating, retrieving, and delivering medical records as assigned.
The Medical Records Department provides prompt and secure services to patients and clinics. This role will also be cross-trained on switchboard duties to help cover incoming clinic calls as needed.
The organization serves oncology patients and focuses on safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in Health Information Management, Health Administration, or related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a hospital or clinical setting required, preferably in a medical records department
- Excellent customer service skills and a high level of courtesy and professionalism
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks, collect and monitor information, and maintain attention to detail and accuracy
- Flexibility and self-motivation
- Ability to work 8-hour shifts
- Must maintain confidentiality of all staff and patient information
- May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs
