Medical Records Specialist

Join Methodist Hospital Metropolitan as a Medical Records Specialist supporting Health Information Management (HIM) operations.

You will assist the HIM Director with workflow queues, worklists in 3M 360 Encompass, unbilled account resolution, and physician suspensions. This role also serves as a primary point of contact when the HIM Director or HIM Coordinator is unavailable.

Key duties include retrieving discharged medical records, reconciling records, managing storage and archival documents, preparing records for scanning, scanning and indexing documents, and performing quality control checks to ensure all documents are properly captured.

The role also includes support for birth certificate processing, including collecting birth information from parents, assisting with acknowledgement of paternity forms, and reviewing patient records to obtain required birth information.

Requirements & Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Hospital or medical office experience preferred, but not required.

Previous experience handling patient health information, medical records document imaging, or medical records is strongly preferred.

Completion of a state certification program may be required for birth certificate processing.

Must be able to work under state guidelines and complete any required training and continuing education.
