Contract Epidemiologist 1 position supporting the Tennessee Department of Health's Division of Family Health and Wellness in the Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs section.

This role supports the Community Health Access and Navigation in Tennessee (CHANT) initiative by developing and maintaining data collection enhancements, preparing routine reports, supporting surveillance projects, and helping integrate a new data system. The position requires strong REDCap and SAS skills, along with the ability to translate programmatic needs into effective data collection and reporting workflows.

This is a hybrid position with travel to Nashville required monthly or as needed. Tennessee residency is required.

Education

Master's degree in epidemiology, public health biostatistics, statistics, or health information
Or a master's degree in health science, biomedical science, or environmental science with equivalent experience

Experience and Skills

Experience equivalent to two years' work in epidemiology, biostatistics, statistics, health informatics, health sciences, biomedical sciences, or environmental sciences
Extensive knowledge of REDCap
Proficiency with statistical software programming such as SAS
Experience managing electronic data and navigating complex databases
Ability to write independent code and test output for accuracy
Ability to provide technical assistance to non-technical staff
Strong attention to detail
Demonstrated customer service and teamwork experience
Experience in public health and health data such as vital records or health survey data preferred
Experience in deployment or implementation of application systems preferred
Foundation in system design, analysis, and evaluation
