Maintains patient medical records, processes requests for records, scans and uploads documents into the electronic medical record, and supports referrals, diagnostic orders, and laboratory orders.
The role is part of an on-site medical records team serving four clinical sites in the East Liberty, Lincoln-Lemington, and Hill District neighborhoods of Pittsburgh.
Key duties include:
- Processing inbound faxes, P2Ps, EpicCare, Healow, and hardcopy documents
- Scanning and uploading documents into the correct patient chart sections
- Processing and following up on diagnostic orders, including prior authorizations
- Processing and following up on referrals to other health care providers
- Managing patient record releases and requests for patients, providers, insurers, attorneys, and government agencies
- Attaching diagnostic and laboratory reports to orders and creating orders when needed
- Completing, faxing, and mailing provider-generated forms and documents
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- One to three years of medical office experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- Good computer skills
- Good communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
