Medical Records Coordinator

The Medical Records Coordinator supports the nursing department by managing resident medical records and ensuring records are accurate, organized, and compliant with applicable state and federal regulations.

Key duties include validating census information, submitting census activity to the Business Office and state departments, retrieving monthly CMS reports, analyzing discharged resident records for completeness, preparing information for QA&R, maintaining MD/NP schedules, managing role assignments in the HPN system, and overseeing closed records for retrieval, investigation, and proper destruction.

This role may also supervise Medical Records Assistants and assist with hiring, training, onboarding, scheduling, evaluations, timecards, and discipline when applicable.

Requirements & Qualifications

Associate degree in Medical Records Technology or a related field required.

Minimum of 2 years of long-term care experience.

Computer proficiency with databases and applications such as Microsoft Office.

Medical records processing training leading to RHIT certification preferred.

Knowledge of medical terminology required.

Knowledge of the Standards of Ethical Coding preferred.

Knowledge of value-based healthcare reimbursement systems and the Patient-Driven Model preferred.
