Central Supply / Medical Records is responsible for maintaining resident medical records in accordance with state and federal regulations, professional standards of practice, and company policies and procedures. This role ensures the management and accuracy of resident records from pre-admission through post-discharge in a skilled nursing and long-term care environment.
Key duties include maintaining accurate, complete, current, and confidential resident health information; performing ICD coding; creating medical records for new admissions; supporting compliance with HIPAA and regulatory requirements; conducting audits; managing release of information; and preparing reports for quality and committee meetings.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical records in a skilled nursing facility or healthcare-related field
- Experience with ICD coding preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, laws, and regulations related to long-term care
- Effective communication skills to work with residents, families, staff, physicians, consultants, providers, and government agencies
- RHIA or RHIT credential preferred
