StayWell Health Center is seeking a Medical Record Technician to ensure the quality of medical and health records by verifying completeness, accuracy, and proper entry into computer systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Use computer applications to assemble and analyze patient data to improve patient care or control costs.
- Obtain, organize, compile, and provide medical health care records to medical personnel.
- Answer telephones efficiently and respond to voicemail messages promptly.
- Address patient concerns and help resolve problems in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Respond to requests for medical records across all departments.
- Scan and fax required paperwork for Medical, Behavioral Health, and Dental departments.
- Categorize medical data appropriately.
- Match labs by checking hard copies and tasking when no match is found.
- Assist patients in completing medical record forms as needed.
- Support information exchange between StayWell Health Center and other health service agencies.
- Monitor and audit chart accuracy.
- Conduct chart recovery.
- Monitor and correct chart duplications.
- Request and obtain hospital medical record reports as necessary.
- Provide excellent customer service and patient services.
- Maintain a professional demeanor when handling difficult customer and patient situations.
- Follow HIPAA regulations and other legal requirements.
- Use medical, dental, and behavioral health terminology appropriately.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working in a community health center and/or healthcare office setting preferred
- Electronic health record experience
- Fluent English speaking, reading, and writing skills; bilingual English-Spanish or English-Albanian preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and internet use
- Flexibility and adaptability in a changing, fast-paced environment
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organization, analysis, and prioritization skills
