Responsible for supporting medical records management for a cancer center and helping improve the patient experience.
Key duties include:
- Serving as a liaison with physicians, clinical staff, oncology teams, external providers, and other hospital departments
- Preparing patient charts with appropriate records for scheduled appointments
- Reviewing physician orders and ensuring required orders and results are received
- Activating lab orders and addressing medical necessity and ABNs
- Retrieving, scanning, and maintaining paper charts and documents in the EMR
- Following downtime procedures during system outages and scanning paper documentation afterward
- Managing imaging disc requests and ensuring images are imported into the EMR before patient visits
- Processing Release of Information requests for providers, organizations, insurance companies, patients, and legal matters
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 1 year of experience in a healthcare environment
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong command of the English language
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of anatomy/physiology preferred
- Excellent computer and phone skills
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Scanning experience
