The Medical Records Technician provides administrative and technical support to the Aerospace and Operational Medicine Division at Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command. The role focuses on maintaining, reviewing, and accurately entering aeromedical records for approximately 70,000 reservists.
Key duties include:
- Reviewing medical documentation for completeness to support government medical provider adjudication
- Performing technician-level data entry across specialized case management systems
- Maintaining systems of record such as AIMWTS, ECT, PEPP, MEDXS, and ASIMS
- Applying ICD-10 coding and medical terminology to document case files accurately
- Tracking cases throughout the review process and communicating status updates to Reserve Medical Units
- Collecting and compiling data for final disposition and reporting
- Preparing recurring reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphics to support meetings and training
Work is performed in Government facilities, with full-time hours Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
Requirements & Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- An associate or bachelor’s degree in health information management, health sciences, medical administration, healthcare administration, or a related field
- Experience processing and managing physical exams and medical standards, preferably in a military medical environment or equivalent civilian occupational health setting
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and disorders of body systems
- Familiarity with ICD-10 coding and medical terminology
- Strong proficiency with PDF software and the Microsoft Office Suite
- High-volume typing and data entry skills using QWERTY and 9-key pads
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to obtain or maintain an active favorable Tier 1 (NACI) background check
- Completion of DoD Cyber Awareness, HIPAA, and Privacy Act training
