Responsible for maintaining and updating resident medical records.
Key duties include:
- Set up residents’ medical records and collect information from nursing staff, physicians, and other sources to update records
- Thin and close charts as needed in accordance with facility policy and regulations
- Monitor and audit records for completeness and accuracy, and provide information to the business office
- Update resident care policies
- Prepare required MD paperwork, schedule outside MD visits, and update MD and NP visit calendars
- Process transfer or discharge records and maintain appropriate records on former residents
- Add physician orders, lab results, and department reports to the medical record
- Process lab requests, quarterly and annual PRI assessments, QA calendar/minutes, door tags, resident tags/bands, standard units of measure, census, admissions/discharges, transfers paperwork, QA audits, in-service logs, and DUM sheets/care guides
Requirements & Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in medical records administration preferred
Experience:
- Minimum 6 months of administrative experience required
- 1 year of experience in medical administration preferred
