Join a hospice care team as a Health Information Management Specialist supporting the maintenance of comprehensive medical records and administrative operations for an interdisciplinary team.
This role focuses on organizing, filing, tracking, and updating patient records to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies. The position also supports interdisciplinary team meetings, regulatory documentation, chart preparation, record requests, and general administrative tasks that help ensure patients and families receive coordinated care.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Experience
- Experience in the health care field preferred
- 1 year of customer service or administrative experience preferred
- Additional education beyond high school may be substituted for experience
Skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
- General knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment
- Familiarity with business English, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and basic arithmetic
- Ability to use office software including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, and databases
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Accurate alphabetical and numeric filing skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy environment
- Strong time management skills
