This is an onsite entry-level position responsible for processing release of information (ROI) and medical record requests accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with patient privacy requirements and HIPAA regulations.
Position highlights
- Onsite role in Jackson, MS
- Full-time schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm CST
- Administrative work including answering calls and managing incoming/outgoing information requests
- Face-to-face assistance with patient walk-ins
- Data entry and document handling across multiple platforms
- Uses Microsoft Word and Excel
Role responsibilities
- Receive and process requests for patient health information according to company and facility policies
- Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information
- Support patient health record management and safeguard records in compliance with HIPAA
- Prepare new patient charts and assemble medical records in standard order
- Create digital images of paperwork for electronic medical records
- Respond to internal and external requests for patient records
- Handle inbound and outbound calls
- Assist with patient walk-ins and related administrative tasks such as faxing, opening mail, and data entry
- May schedule pick-ups and perform other assigned duties
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to commute between locations as needed
- Willingness to work overtime during peak seasons when required
- Basic computer proficiency
- Comfortable using phones, fax machines, printers, and other office equipment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance
- Strong data entry skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
- Good organizational and multitasking skills
Preferred experience
- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Previous production- or metric-based work experience
- In-person customer service experience
- Knowledge of ROI and HIPAA compliance
- Familiarity with EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner
- Experience with document review and redaction
