Medical Records Manager

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Medical Records, or a related field required

Experience

• 3+ years of leadership experience in information management within a healthcare setting preferred
• 1+ year of ICD-10-CM coding experience or experience in healthcare management/medical records preferred

Certifications

• RHIA or RHIT certification through AHIMA preferred
• Any additional client-mandated certifications or training required

Core Responsibilities

• Maintain confidentiality, security, accuracy, and completeness of medical and mental health records
• Oversee release of information in compliance with state, federal, and HIPAA regulations
• Serve as the facility HIPAA Security Officer
• Abstract and enter admitting and discharge diagnoses using ICD-10-CM codes as needed
• Maintain systems tracking diagnoses, treatments, admissions, discharges, and transfers
• Conduct monthly quantitative reviews for compliance with accreditation, licensure, and regulatory standards
• Support auditors, reviewers, and internal staff with record access and documentation standards
• Provide feedback on documentation deficiencies and support quality improvement initiatives
