• Arrhythmia Evaluation Patients experiencing symptoms such as palpitations, dizziness, or syncope may require long-term monitoring to identify intermittent arrhythmias that may not be captured during a standard ECG.
• Post-Myocardial Infarction Monitoring Individuals recovering from a heart attack may need continuous rhythm monitoring to detect any potential complications or arrhythmias that could arise during their recovery.
• Assessment of Atrial Fibrillation Patients with a history of atrial fibrillation may benefit from long-term monitoring to evaluate the frequency and duration of episodes, aiding in treatment decisions.
• Evaluation of Cardiac Symptoms Patients presenting with unexplained chest pain or other cardiac symptoms may require extended monitoring to correlate symptoms with heart rhythm changes.

2. Procedure

The procedure for external electrocardiographic recording involves several key steps to ensure accurate and effective monitoring of the patient's heart rhythm:

• Device Preparation The healthcare provider prepares the external ECG recording device, which includes both the electrodes and the recording unit. The device is designed to be compact and lightweight, allowing for ease of use and comfort during the monitoring period.
• Device Placement The device is placed on the upper aspect of the patient's left chest. Proper placement is crucial for obtaining accurate readings, and the provider may clean the skin to ensure good electrode contact.
• Initial Recording An initial recording is obtained to verify that the device is functioning correctly. This step ensures that the electrodes are properly connected and that the device is capturing the heart's electrical activity as intended.
• Patient Instruction The patient is instructed on how to use and care for the recording device. This includes guidance on how to maintain the device during daily activities and what to do in case of any issues.
