A programming device evaluation is a critical procedure performed on an implantable synchronized diaphragmatic stimulation (SDS) system. This evaluation involves an in-person assessment where iterative adjustments are made to the implantable device. The primary goal is to test the device's function and select optimal permanent programmed values. During this process, a physician or other qualified healthcare professional conducts a thorough analysis and review, culminating in a written report that documents the findings and adjustments made. The patient undergoing this evaluation is typically connected to an electrocardiogram (ECG) monitor to continuously assess cardiac activity. A connection is established between the SDS device and specialized programming software, allowing for a comprehensive review of the device's current programming. Key aspects such as the SDS sensing function, leads, and battery status are evaluated to ensure proper operation.
