This procedure involves converting physical glass slides into a digital format, allowing for the captured images to be stored on a local computer server or within a cloud-based archive. The digitization process facilitates further examination of the slides, enabling remote pathologists to analyze the images or utilizing computer algorithms to assist in providing a pathologic diagnosis, which is distinct from traditional direct visualization through a microscope. The information obtained from this digitization can be effectively managed and interpreted within an evolving image-based environment. The morphometric analysis that accompanies this procedure employs in situ hybridization techniques, which utilize fluorescent tagging to visualize specific genes or segments of genes. The manual preparation of glass slides, such as those derived from bone marrow or tumor samples, is performed for analysis, and the digitization of these slides occurs concurrently. It is important to note that for billing purposes, CPT® Code 0851T should be reported for the initial single probe stain preparation, while CPT® Code 0852T is designated for each additional single probe stain digitization. Additionally, CPT® Code 0853T is used for the digitization of each multiplex probe stain.
