The surrounding soft tissue is carefully retracted to expose the fracture site. The periosteum, which is the connective tissue covering the bone, is elevated to facilitate a clear view of the fracture. Once the fracture is identified, the area is meticulously cleaned to remove any debris that may interfere with the healing process. The fracture is then reduced, meaning the bone fragments are realigned to their normal anatomical position. If necessary, internal fixation is applied to stabilize the fracture. This may involve the use of pins, small screws, or a plate and screw device, all of which are designed to maintain the proper alignment of the fracture fragments during the healing process.
