Closed treatment of post hip arthroplasty dislocation refers to the medical procedure performed to address a dislocation of the hip joint that occurs after a total hip replacement surgery. This complication is relatively common and necessitates careful evaluation and intervention. The procedure begins with an assessment of the patient's neurovascular status to ensure that there are no underlying issues that could complicate the treatment. Once the evaluation is complete, the closed reduction technique is employed, which involves the application of traction and mechanical forces to reposition the dislocated prosthetic femoral head back into the acetabular cup of the hip implant. After the successful reduction of the dislocated hip, the neurovascular status is re-evaluated to confirm that normal function has been restored. Additionally, the success of the reduction is verified through radiographic imaging, which is reported separately. It is important to note that this procedure is coded differently based on the type of anesthesia used; CPT® Code 27266 is utilized when regional or general anesthesia is required, while CPT® Code 27265 is used when the procedure is performed without anesthesia.
