The base of the appendix is then clamped and ligated with sutures to prevent any bleeding. Following this, purse-string sutures are placed in the cecum, which is the beginning of the large intestine. The appendix is subsequently divided, and the appendiceal stump is folded back into the cecum beneath the purse-string sutures to ensure proper closure. Finally, the incision made in the abdominal wall is closed with sutures.
