Common Language Description

The procedure described by CPT® Code 75662 involves angiography of the external carotid arteries, which are the major blood vessels located on either side of the neck that supply blood to the head and face. In this procedure, a physician performs a selective angiography, meaning that they specifically target the external carotid arteries for imaging. To begin, a catheter is carefully inserted into both external carotid arteries. This is done to allow for the introduction of a contrast dye, which enhances the visibility of the blood vessels during imaging. Once the catheter is in place, the physician injects the dye into the arteries. As the dye circulates through the blood vessels, a series of X-ray images are captured. These images provide critical information about the structure and function of the external carotid arteries, helping to identify any abnormalities, blockages, or other vascular conditions. The procedure is performed under radiological supervision, ensuring that the images are interpreted accurately for diagnostic purposes.
