Auditory rehabilitation is a specialized therapeutic approach aimed at enhancing communication skills in individuals with hearing loss. Specifically, when addressing prelingual hearing loss, the primary objective is to facilitate language acquisition and develop alternative communication methods, such as sign language, to ensure effective communication for the child. This process involves a variety of rehabilitative techniques designed to improve auditory awareness, speech production, and language development. Auditory awareness training is a critical component, where activities are implemented to heighten the child's sensitivity to sound and their ability to respond to auditory stimuli, utilizing any residual hearing they may possess. Additionally, the rehabilitation process incorporates the use of visual cues, encouraging the child to pay attention to the speaker's facial expressions and body language, which are essential for effective communication. Speech improvement exercises are also integral, focusing on enhancing the clarity of speech, voice quality, and the regulation of volume, rate, and rhythm.
