The CPT® Code 93294 refers to the process of remote interrogation device evaluation(s) for a pacemaker or implantable defibrillator system. This evaluation can be conducted for a duration of up to 90 days and encompasses single, dual, or multiple lead pacemaker systems, as well as leadless pacemaker systems. During this procedure, the device is interrogated through telemetric communication, allowing healthcare professionals to remotely access and analyze the device's performance without the need for an in-person visit. The evaluation includes a comprehensive review of the device's functionality, which involves assessing the leads, battery status, and current programmed parameters. Additionally, electrocardiogram recordings are scrutinized to detect any arrhythmias, while stored data, including previous event records, is compared to identify any changes or trends. The evaluation also considers the frequency and duration of arrhythmias, ectopic beats, and mode switch episodes, alongside exercise and physiological stress data to observe heart rate adaptations. For implantable defibrillators, the analysis extends to the evaluation of any therapeutic interventions for ventricular tachyarrhythmias. Alerts generated by the device are also reviewed, and the findings are communicated to the patient, accompanied by a written report detailing the results of the evaluation.
