The HIM Coding Auditor supports the HIM Division by conducting internal and external coding audits, performing client-based coding quality audits and post assessments. Acts as a resource for internal and external customers.
Responsibilities include performing coding audits, providing feedback to improve coder skills, ensuring 95%+ accuracy and productivity standards, coordinating education and action plans for underperforming consultants, maintaining productivity metrics, notifying management of any attendance or performance concerns, providing external education sessions (on-site or web-based), supporting recruiters in consultant skill assessments, training consultants on new assignments, communicating client policies and expectations, documenting processes and policies, and facilitating issue resolution with management.
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC credential required
- Minimum 3 years of auditing experience
- Thorough knowledge and experience with MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs, and APCs
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and professional services E&M coding
- Working knowledge of state and federal fraud and abuse regulations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
