Medical Billing Specialist

Advanced Recovery Systems, LLC is an integrated behavioral healthcare management company focused on addiction, substance abuse, and mental health treatment.

The Medical Billing Specialist (AR Collections Specialist) will work remotely, primarily in the Eastern or Central Time zones, auditing and creating claims submission, managing claim rejections, and ensuring accurate billing and charge capture related to behavioral health services.

Responsibilities include daily auditing clients for authorization and diagnosis accuracy, addressing rejected claims, updating EMR and patient accounts, following up on billing submissions, filing appeals, documenting claim actions, and maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.

Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in medical business matters related to acute hospitals, physician practices, behavioral health facilities, or medical billing companies. Preferred qualifications include an Associate’s degree, and certifications such as CPC, CPAT, or CPAM are a plus.

This position requires use of a personal Windows 11 PC meeting company software/security standards and participation in video conferencing.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in medical billing or business matters related to acute hospital organizations, physician practices, behavioral health facilities, or medical billing companies.
  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Certifications such as CPC, CPAT, or CPAM preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of state and federal patient confidentiality laws, HIPAA regulations.
  • Ability to work remotely in Eastern or Central Time zones.
  • Proficiency with billing software (Avatar, Waystar, BB Tech) and EMR systems.
  • Strong communication skills, critical thinking, and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Own personal computer with Windows 11 and up-to-date antivirus software.
  • Professionalism in video conferencing and virtual meetings.
