Trauma Registrar

Health Information Alliance, Inc.

Health Information Alliance (HIA) is seeking experienced Trauma Registrars (PRN) for 100% remote subcontractor positions available nationwide. Candidates must have at least 5 years current trauma registrar experience and expertise in abstracting high-quality, standardized trauma data.

Responsibilities include abstracting physiological and anatomical data on trauma patients, injury coding, ensuring data accuracy and completeness for trauma registries, and participating in quality reviews. Candidates will remotely access electronic health records and trauma data collection systems.

Required skills include proficiency in ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding for injuries, ability to assign severity using the AAAM Abbreviated Injury Scale, and experience with trauma data definitions and systems (e.g., TQIP, TraumaOne).

Preferred qualifications include RHIA, RHIT, RN, or LPN credentials, and experience with pediatric and ABA burn patient data abstraction.

Candidates must have reliable high-speed internet, be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable with technology such as Excel, web browsers, Citrix, and electronic health records.

This PRN position requires working 15-20+ hours per week on a consistent basis.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years current trauma registrar experience
  • Experience with electronic health records and NTDS trauma data definitions
  • Certification: CSTR or CAISS required
  • Ability to code ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS specific to injuries
  • Ability to assign injury severity via AAAM Abbreviated Injury Scale
  • Experience with trauma data collection systems (e.g., TQIP, DI COLLECTOR, TraumaOne, Trauma Base, TSE)
  • Coursework in physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology
  • RHIA, RHIT, RN, LPN preferred
  • Experience abstracting trauma data for pediatric or ABA burn patients desired
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Comfortable with technology and computers (Excel, web browsers, Citrix, electronic health records)
