As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing patient accounts and balances, ensuring accurate billing and timely claims processing to maximize reimbursement. You will serve as the primary resource for patients, staff, and payers, handling financial questions and resolving insurance issues. Key responsibilities include responding to patient inquiries about balances and financial assistance, assisting with payment plans, and processing refunds.
Your duties also involve investigating denied claims, monitoring aging accounts, collaborating with clinical staff and third-party payers, reconciling payments, and maintaining precise account records. This role significantly contributes to a seamless healthcare experience for patients.
Candidates should have a strong foundation in healthcare billing and patient account management, with at least 2-3 years of relevant healthcare experience and familiarity with third-party payors, ICD-10/CPT codes, prior authorizations, claims follow-up, and patient refunds. Knowledge of Athena EMR or similar systems, along with strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills, is preferred.
