Medical Biller

UB Associates, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Biller (Billing Specialist) to join our revenue cycle team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate and timely billing processes, including charge entry, payment posting, claim follow-up, and patient account support.

The Medical Biller is responsible for preparing, submitting, and managing medical claims to insurance companies and patients, ensuring timely reimbursement by following up on unpaid claims, resolving billing discrepancies, and maintaining compliance with payer regulations and healthcare laws.

This role supports both patients and organizational success through strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities include accurately entering physician charges, ICD-10 codes, and modifiers; reviewing and verifying patient demographic and insurance information; ensuring all billing data is complete and submitted on time; identifying and correcting errors prior to claim submission; monitoring and resolving denied or underpaid claims; managing claim edits, rejections, and clearinghouse issues; resubmitting corrected claims promptly; posting payments aligned with EOBs; managing refunds and payment adjustments; responding professionally to patient inquiries regarding balances and statements; collaborating with coding and clinical teams; and assisting with coverage and special projects.

Maintaining compliance with HIPAA and payer regulations, staying current on billing guidelines, and supporting revenue cycle reporting are also important.

Qualifications include a minimum of 1 year of medical billing experience, strong attention to detail and organizational skills, knowledge of billing processes, coding, and revenue cycle principles, excellent communication skills, ability to manage multiple priorities collaboratively, and certification such as CPB or CCS is preferred but not required.

The position is full-time, onsite in Buffalo, NY, hourly pay $18.00-$23.00, with comprehensive benefits including 401(k) matching, health, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, and retirement plan.

  • Knowledge of billing processes, coding, and revenue cycle principles
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, staff, and management
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and manage multiple priorities
  • Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred but not required
