This position serves as a Medical Billing Specialist and customer service specialist for the Dental Faculty Practice OMFS at The Ohio State University.
Responsibilities include coding medical and dental records, prior authorization submission for providers and facility for inpatient and outpatient services, managing appeals processes, and submitting both medical claim forms CMS 1500 and dental claims including attachments. Additional duties include patient billing, sending Good Faith Estimates, managing accounts receivable including tracking returned signed documents, patient collections, posting payments, following up on delinquent claims, and updating spreadsheets for communication amongst team members and providers.
Technical skills required: Ability to multitask with minimal errors, strong follow-up skills, keen attention to detail, proficiency in Microsoft Office and Epic, and experience with medical and dental coding.
Soft skills: Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills to obtain payment.
The job is onsite, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Work is performed primarily in an office environment requiring sustained periods of keyboard use and general office mobility. Ability to lift 25 pounds with or without accommodation is required.
Required qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, with certification or vocational training possibly required, and 4 years of relevant experience. Desired qualifications include 6+ years of experience, an associate degree in a relevant field, and at least 1 year in a professional office setting with medical and/or dental EHR and patient payment collection experience.
This position requires successful completion of background checks and drug and alcohol screening.
