The Medical Billing and Coding Instructor works under the Director of Education and Program Director to oversee a student-centered learning experience. Instructor competencies include subject matter expertise, communication, teaching diverse learners, assessment of student learning, use of technology in teaching, and continuous improvement. Instructors create a positive, engaging environment ensuring high-quality instruction.
Instructors use centrally developed materials and assessments, allowing focus on facilitating learning. Academic freedom encourages use of personal experience to illustrate concepts. Online Learning Management Systems enable flexible student access and faculty monitoring.
Key responsibilities:
- Promote and maintain positive learning environment
- Fulfill administrative duties
- Contribute to curriculum and instruction improvement
- Engage in faculty development
- Manage classroom/laboratory
- Deliver effective instruction
- Conduct lab/clinic/externship/practicum activities (if applicable)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Industry certification or equivalent knowledge
- 3 years of industry experience in Medical Billing and Coding instruction (degree may substitute for some experience)
Preferred Experience:
- 2 years academic instruction in post-secondary education
- 5 years in the field
- Knowledge of federal/state education regulations
