Medical Billing Clerk

This is an onsite role requiring presence in the Houston, Texas area.

We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to support medical, dental, and behavioral health billing operations. This role is critical to the revenue cycle, ensuring accuracy in claims submission, payment posting, and denial resolution.

Key responsibilities include preparing and submitting accurate claims; appealing and resubmitting denied or rejected claims; posting insurance and patient payments; processing adjustments and refunds; maintaining accounts receivable records; monitoring AR aging reports; ensuring compliance with Medicaid, Medicare, CHIP, and HIPAA; and generating billing reports to identify reimbursement issues.

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on medical billing experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proficiency in ICD, CPT, CDT, and HCPCS coding
  • Experience with Medicaid, Medicare, and managed care claims submission
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and practice management systems

Preferred:

  • Experience within a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW)
  • Experience managing high-volume claim environments

Soft Skills for Success:

  • Detail-oriented with strong error detection
  • Persistent in resolving accounts fully
  • Able to manage multiple priorities effectively in a metric-driven environment

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Compensation: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour (hourly wage, annual salary not specified, so salary fields are left null)
